An Eye On Change - Update

Just wanted to let everyone know that I was successful in my bid for a new job. I will now be a study coordinator for the radiology department at the medical institution I work for. There are a lot of positives for this new role and I am looking forward to getting started near the end of June.

I have been very fortunate to have made a number of friends where I currently work and I am grateful for their support as I prepare for my move. I will miss many of the people I have worked with, but the need for personal change far out weighs the fear of change. I am ready to do something different and hopefully more meaningful with my career. I know I've done a very good job in my current position and I am proud of the changes I brought to the department. I hope that I am equally as successful in my new situation.

For now I will enjoy the long week-end, celebrate the graduation of family friends and maybe even sneak off for some bass fishing.

An Eye On Change

I am patiently waiting to hear word on a lateral move I have requested at work. I say it is a lateral move solely in the sense that there will be no change in my pay status. More importantly, this move would signify a change in my day to day routine. As it is a new position is allows for a certain amount of personal and professional growth. A change in my job status would have a rejuvinating affect on me.

I have been working in my current role for five years and as a lead in this area for about a year and a half now. I have found the role of a lead to be rather frustrating at times and even physically and emotionally draining. I do feel that I have made some significant and positive changes for my peers. I also believe that I am the best canidate for the new role as I am eager to expand my value to my department, learn new skills and incorporate my knowledge to create a positive and effective position within the department.

The hiring process is a slow, plodding animal which requires patience. I know I am ready for the change just like I know I can be a positive selection for the role. I simply wait.

An Evening Of Music

We just returned from an evening of music at the local high school. We are very fortunate to have an outstanding group of music instructors in our school district. Their skills, talents and joy of music that is shared with the students is obvious as the students continue to strive for excellence year after year. We are especially proud of our daughter as she was part of a duet that sang with the Middle School band. Many people were moved by the selection and I was very happy that the young ladies did such a lovely job.

Our school district is in desperate need of improve facilities, yet each year the students reach beyond the limitations to excel. When the time comes for the public to stand up a make a commitment to education in our community I hope the students are rewarded with the tools they need to reach even higher to touch the potential of their future.

A Time To Gather

Today I have gathered with cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and aquaintances at a family funeral. Sadly, the last time I saw most of these same people was at a previous funeral several years ago.

In the midst of sadness at the loss of a loved one, there is the pleasure of sharing memories and catching up with the lives of these people that I had grown up with for so many years in a small rural community. It brought many smiles to listen to various stories of our childhood or look at old photos of our parents from a time we could not have been a part of.

Our time together was so brief. We parted with warm handshakes and hugs. E-mails were exchanged and hopes for a happier gathering were expressed among us. Our wish to meet again without the cloud of family loss is sincere. Today we said goodbye to a loved one and hopefully renewed relationships from days gone by.
